Watch Ben Woodburn break Michael Owen's record for youngest ever Liverpool goalscorer

Ben Woodburn just made his debut for Liverpool over the weekend, coming on in the 58th minute for Georginio Wijnaldum, and he made his second appearance against Leeds in the EFL Cup on Tuesday. This time he made history, scoring Liverpool's second goal at the tender age of just 17 years and 45 days, breaking one Michael Owen's record by a full 98 days.

Owen's mark had stood since May 6th, 1997, making the previous record older than Woodburn himself.

Aside from making history, the goal itself was beautiful. Divock Origi and Sadio Mane combined down the right with Mane springing Origi in the box with a fantastic backheel. Origi then magicked his way through a crowd of Leeds defenders to slot across the face of goal to Wijnaldum, who then unselfishly flicked for Woodburn to open his tally for the Reds in front of his home crowd.

It really is the stuff dreams are made of.

Jurgen Klopp clearly believes in the youngster, saying previously: "I think Ben is mentally ready to start a game. At that moment I thought it was a good idea [to play against Sunderland], he deserved it and I thought: 'Come on, let's go.' It was only a few minutes. He was ready for it. We've shown him the Premier League for the first time, but the best news for him is there is so much time for him to improve and develop. We will help him."

The sky's the limit from here.
