Warnock wants three more

The R's won the Championship last season, ending their 15-year absence from the top flight. Despite securing promotion, Warnock was frustrated in early attempts to bolster his squad before completing the signings of Jay Bothroyd, Kieron Dyer and Danny Gabbidon. Blackpool striker DJ Campbell and wantaway Southampton winger Jason Puncheon could soon be joining the trio at Loftus Road, with the former Sheffield United boss admitting there are a couple of irons in the fire. "Well, were talking to a number of players," he told Sky Sports News. "We're hoping to bring in two or maybe three players in the next week before the start of the season. "We've gone slowly about our job but I think we've got some good players in and we're looking to bring two or three other good players in. "We haven't gone silly and signed them straight away but we've been working hard behind the scenes. "So it's very encouraging and the way we've been playing in Italy was very good against different types of opponents but you're going to get that in the Premier League. "There's something different every week isn't there so I'm sure we can ruffle a few feathers." QPR's pre-season preparation has been overshadowed by off-field antics throughout the summer. The latest development at the Shepherds Bush club is that Malaysian businessman Tony Fernandes is in discussions with co-owner Bernie Ecclestone and the Formula One supremo's business partner Flavio Briatore. QPR last week announced they were in talks with potential new owners, with the interested party having since been revealed to be Fernandes. The the boss of Formula One's Team Lotus joined Briatore on the pre-season tour of Italy last week and met with Warnock in Bergamo. But when asked whether Fernandes' takeover could prove a headache, Warnock responded: "No, not really. I only met him for an hour with Flavio before the game at Atalanta. "It was a very enjoyable conversation but we didn't have a long chat on that. "That side of the game is nothing to do with me really, I just try and concentrate on the football side and try and bring one or two players into the club. "In fairness, I think I've got three very good players and if we can get two or three on top of that, then I think we finish the business just at the right time before that first game of the season."
