Vasco da Gama remains a point clear

Vasco da Gama is a point clear of Sao Paulo at the top of the Brazilian Campeonato after both sides enjoyed 4-0 home wins on Saturday.

Sao Paulo eased to victory over Ceara with Junior Juan opening the scoring on 42 minutes and Ivan Piris making it 2-0 just two minutes later.

Carlos Casemiro made it 3-0 on 66 minutes and Vitor Rivaldo completed the rout 18 minutes from time.

Vasco da Gama was similarly untroubled against Gremio, with Elton scoring after just three minutes and Diego Souza doubling the lead just after the half hour.

Any hopes of a fightback were ended when Oliveira Eder Luis made it 3-0 early in the second half, while Conserva Fagner (61) completed the scoring.
