USMNT prospect Julian Green scored a hat trick in 35 minutes for Bayern Munich

Julian Green needed just 35 minutes to notch a first-half hat trick for Bayern Munich against Inter Milan in the International Champions Cup. Green has stated his intention to remain with Bayern's first team this season, and performances like Saturday's certainly will strengthen his case with new manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Green’s first goal came just seven minutes into the contest, off the end of a sizzling David Alaba cross.

A comedy of defensive errors around the half-hour mark resulted in Green’s second, a one-timed left-footed shot just inside the far post.

Roughly five minutes later, Green found himself on the sharp end of a beautiful team move. Green appeared to potentially be offside, but the flag stayed down and the American had his hat trick.

The first-half hat trick has to be compelling for Ancelotti, despite the contest just being a preseason match. It's worth noting that other than surefire starter Robert Lewandowski, Ancelotti is bereft of natural strikers on his roster. If no late additions come, that'd leave Green and Benko as Bayern's most likely options behind Lewandowski. Prior to the match, Ancelotti had expressed Green's importance to Bayern in 2016.

For Green, he has made it clear he needs time with Bayern's first team to break back into the U.S. men's national team, where he has played just once since his debut year in 2014. Heading into Saturday's match, he told reporters: "If I do my thing here, I’m sure I can be back soon with the national team, and that’s my goal also.”

Hat tricks, even if they're in preseason, will only help his cause.
