Usain Bolt has 'genuinely been talking to people' about playing pro soccer
Usain Bolt's fascination with soccer is well-documented, but the world's greatest sprinter appears ready to take it to the next level. "We’ve genuinely been talking to people" about a post-track career in professional soccer, Bolt said in an extensive interview with The Guardian.
The nine-time Olympic gold medalist is a longtime Manchester United fan but says he has arranged to train with Borussia Dortmund and "see what happens." Bolt seems pretty serious about it all, too. Remember that time he said he felt confident enough to suit up for the Red Devils, but wouldn't consider it so long as Louis van Gaal was in charge?
Despite the training session with Dortmund, the sprint king still dreams of playing for United.
“For me, if I could get to play for Manchester United, that would be like a dream come true. Yes, that would be epic,” the 30-year-old said in the interview. Jose Mourinho already has one larger-than-life personality at the top of his attack in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, so would he double down and give Bolt a chance? Absolutely not, but it's fun to imagine.
The Jamaican does seem serious, though, and if there's any athlete out there that can stun on a regular basis it's Bolt. If the man can eat 100 chicken nuggets a day and still win three gold medals, what can't he do?
