Uruguay overwhelms Peru 6-0 in World Cup qualifying
Diego Forlan scored the first of three consecutive goals in the the eighth minute and Uruguay overwhelmed a 10-man Peru 6-0 Tuesday night to give a boost to its World Cup qualifying campaign.
Carlos Bueno scored twice and Sebastian Abreu added another as Uruguay improved to eight points, moving it a point past Chile, Venezuela and Brazil into fourth place in the South American qualifying table. Paraguay leads with 13 points. Chile, Venezuela and Brazil all play their sixth-round matches later this week.
