United States faces Ecuador friendly

The U.S. men's national team will return to action in October, and it's a pair of friendlies that will have a decidedly East Coast flavor.

U.S. Soccer announced on Monday that the national team will face Ecuador at Red Bull Arena on October 11th.

The friendly will be played just three days after Jurgen Klinsmann's men take on Honduras in Miami at Sun Life Stadium.

The match will be the first played by the U.S. men's national team at Red Bull Arena since the stadium opened in March of 2010.

The United States has played in New Jersey recently, having tied Argentina at the New Meadowlands Stadium in March and lost to Brazil in the same venue in August of 2010.

The Ecuador friendly will be the first meeting between the United States and the South American opponent since 2007, a match that saw Landon Donovan score a hat-trick in a 3-1 USMNT victory.

The October 11th match is expected to feature a heavily international-based roster, with MLS teams playing in the thick of their playoff race.
