UEFA bans Milan's Gattuso 4 matches for head butt

AC Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has been banned for four European club matches for head-butting Tottenham assistant coach Joe Jordans at a Champions League game last week.

The Union of European Football Associations said Monday the penalty is in addition to a one-match suspension Gattuso must serve for yellow card accumulation.

Gattuso earlier grabbed at Jordan's throat in a separate sideline clash during a heated second-round, first-leg game, won 1-0 by Spurs.

Gattuso, who captained Milan, must serve the ban in Champions League or Europa League games.

After the match, Gattuso apologized for his behavior when speaking with reporters.

Milan said in a statement that it will not appeal the punishment.
