U.S. Under-23 international Cropper signs for MK Dons

U.S. Under-23 goalkeeper Cody Cropper has signed a one-year contract with MK Dons.

The goalkeeper, who featured for the U.S. U-23 side which finished third at the Toulon Tournament earlier this month, will join the English Championship club.

Cropper, 22, was released by Southampton in May after spending three seasons with the Saints. He featured mostly for the club's U-21 side and failed to make a first-team appearance. 

"Cody has got tremendous potential and he fits the type of the person we want around the place," MK Dons manager Karl Robinson told the club's official website. "He's a good size, got a great work ethic and wants to learn."

MK Dons finished second in League One last season, securing promotion to the Championship for the first time. Another higlight of MK Dons season was beating Manchester United 4-0 in the Capitol One Cup.

"It's a great opportunity for myself and I'm very pleased to be here. I want to push on and develop as a goalkeeper." Cropper told told the club's official website.

Cropper has been capped at the U-20 and U-23 level for the United States. He's been called up to the senior team on multiple occasions but has yet to make an appearance.
