U.S. Soccer's new crest is a thousand times better than the old one
Finally, for the first time in over 20 years, U.S. Soccer has an entirely new crest.
The U.S. revealed the official redesign on Monday after hinting at the change on social media last week. The new jerseys for 2016, one of which has already been leaked to overwhelmingly negative reviews, are also expected to be announced soon.

But first, let's talk about the crest.
After years of being stuck with that goofy flying soccer ball, the new logo looks sharper, cleaner, makes much more sense (13 red and white stripes to represent the original 13 states have replaced the 11 blue and white stripes), and generally reminds us of the much-beloved Centennial crest rolled out in 2013. Thumbs up, USA!
U.S. Soccer announced the change by sending fan scarves sporting the new crest to men's and women's national team stars, lucky fans, and a host of various celebrities, many of whom duly posted the news to Twitter:

On Friday, U.S. Soccer teased the change by replacing the logo as its avatar on Twitter and Instagram accounts with a blank white space, while also posting a cryptic video of the crest being removed from the gates at federation headquarters in Chicago.
