U.S. international striker Bobby Wood heads to Union Berlin
Fresh off back-to-back game winners for the USA last month, Bobby Wood has found a new club.
The 22-year-old striker has moved to Union Berlin of the 2.Bundesliga, signing a deal that keeps him with the club until 2017.
Wood joins his new team after spending the past five seasons with fellow second-division club 1860 Munich. After a falling out with 1860 last season, Wood joined Erzgebirge Aue on loan for the second half of the campaign, scoring three goals in nine appearances.
"I am happy that the transfer worked out and all parties have clarity," Wood told Union's official website. "I had very good discussions with the leaders and have quickly realized that Union can be the right place for me. This is a special club with great goals."
Following goals against the Netherlands and Germany last month, Wood was linked to Bundesliga club Stuttgart, but the transfer never materialized. Now the Hawaiian-born striker will have to reprove himself in the second division with Union, which finished in seventh place last term.
