Trotters boss calls on old heads

Saturday's 2-1 defeat at West Brom means the Trotters, lying 18th in the table, have lost nine of their 12 Premier League fixtures this term and Coyle has been particularly unhappy with the performances of some of his more senior squad members. Several of them are out of contract next summer and the manager wants them to prove to him that they have a future in a Bolton side he is looking to make "fresh and energetic" by promoting youth. "The experienced players need to be pulling their weight, doing their bit and showing me that they still want to have a career at Bolton Wanderers," said Coyle, quoted in the Bolton News. "Our young players are doing fine and they are going to get better. "If they are good enough, they will play regardless of how old they are, and that, in the long term for Bolton Wanderers, is the way forward. Bit by bit I will bring them in, and make us a fresh and energetic team."
