Tottenham shouldn't rush Hugo Lloris' recovery
Spurs need to be careful with Hugo Lloris
It shouldn’t surprise any Tottenham fans that Spurs captain Hugo Lloris is pushing to return early from injury. The club should be smart enough not to rush him back before’s fully fit.
Lloris told Spurs fans via the club’s official website that his goal is to return for Tottenham’s next Premier League match at Stoke City. I hope Michel Vorm gets the nod for one more Premier League match.
That certainly isn’t because Vorm is a better keeper than Lloris, it’s just that I want the club to exercise caution with the Frenchman. The last thing Mauricio Pochettino’s side needs is for Lloris to deal with a nagging hamstring injury for the rest of the season.
There will be much more important fixtures for Spurs than an early season clash at Stoke. More precisely, Champions League football is right around the corner.

Tottenham will need their captain back to take part in Europe’s most prestigious competition. Lloris, perhaps more than any other Spurs player, deserves to take part in Champions League football with the club. He’s had several opportunities to leave North London, but has stayed with the club because of his staunch belief that Tottenham would soon qualify for Champions League football again.
The truth is, Vorm is certainly capable of continuing his run of good form at Stoke. He’s performed there before while at Swansea, and he’s played well in relief of Lloris as of late. His solid play has earned him the right to start any match where Lloris might not be at 100%.
In sharp contrast, I wouldn’t want to trot Vorm out into a Champions League fixture if I could help it. The bright lights of that stage might just be too much for him. that’s the time when Tottenham need to have their star keeper in-goal. Lloris was born for prestigious fixtures like these.
That’s why Spurs need to make sure that their French captain regains all of his fitness before even considering putting him in the lineup at Stoke. Discretion would be the better part of valor in regards to Lloris’ involvement against the Potters.
