Toni leaves Bayern as contract terminated
Bayern Munich says striker Luca Toni's contract with the German champion has been terminated by mutual agreement, months after he left on loan to AS Roma.
The Italy international had another season on his contract but fell out with coach Louis Van Gaal after the Dutchman arrived at Bayern last year.
Toni, who scored 38 goals in 60 Bundesliga matches after signing in 2007, left for Roma during the winter break.
The Bayern chairman, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, thanked Toni for his work at the club and offered him "best wishes for the future with his new club."
Toni, who has been linked in Italian media with a move to Genoa, was left out of the Italy squad for the World Cup in South Africa.
