Three trialists at West Ham

Trialists Mikael Silvestre, John Mensah and Anthony Vanden Borre are training with West Ham's first team as they seek to win free transfers.

Although the transfer window has now closed, Sam Allardyce is running the rule over the trio and could hand them contracts

Experienced defender Silvestre, 35, was released by Werder Bremen in the summer. He previously spent nine seasons with Manchester United, and two with Arsenal.

Ghana international centre-back John Mensah, 29, was last with Panathinaikos, having played for Sunderland on loan from Lyon between 2009 and 2011.

Former Portsmouth loan signing Vanden Borre, 24, who has won 23 caps for Belgium, left Genk at the end of last season.

All are being given a chance to earn deals at Upton Park, although Allardyce has yet to make up his mind on any of them.

"They have been training with us but there is no decision on whether we will be pursuing their services or not at this moment in time," he said.
