This Edinson Cavani volley is a beautiful bit of magic, but the pass was even better

It started as a back-and-forth affair between Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco in the French League Cup final on Saturday -- that is, until Edinson Cavani settled things with a gorgeous, emphatic goal to double the lead.

Cavani did later come back to score once more in stoppage time, but it was his stunning strike in the 54th minute that seemed to offer a bad omen for Monaco that the match was pretty much over. Take a look:

Cavani's volleyed shot was a beauty, but the true highlight on the goal is actually that pass from Marco Verratti. With the outside of his boot, he just flicks the ball right into the path of Cavani, who doesn't need more than a touch to get a good strike on it. It put PSG ahead, 3-1, on their way to a 4-1 finish.

The Cavani-Verratti goal was all-around perfect and a pretty fair way to sum up Saturday's Coupe de la Ligue match-up, but Cavani's second one assisted by Angel di Maria wasn't too bad either:

Cavani just cannot stop scoring great goals and now PSG have another trophy. A stunning loss to Barcelona in the Champions League notwithstanding, PSG have been a pretty nice little run of results and it's easy to see why.
