Thigh injury to sideline Abidal 7-10 days

Barcelona says defender Eric Abidal will be out for seven to 10 days after injuring his right thigh in Sunday's 1-0 win at Sporting Gijon.

The France defender limped off in the 54th minute at Gijon and was replaced by Maxwell.

His injury adds to Barcelona's problems in defense, with both Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique struggling for fitness so far this season.

Abidal had been selected for the France squad to play Euro 2012 qualifying matches against Albania on Oct. 7 and Bosnia and Herzegovina four days later.
