These numbers on Luis Suarez's first 100 games at Barcelona are incredible

Luis Suarez joined Barcelona under a cloud of controversy, having been suspended for biting Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup, but with nobody questioning his ability as a player. If he could just keep his head on straight and push aside the very serious offenses of racial abuse and repeated biting, he would be a star, the thinking went.

Now we look back at his first 100 games for Barcelona and not only has he generally behaved himself, he's been even better than anyone could have expected.

That's just absurd. You can say he plays on an incredible team, that it's easy to play next to Lionel Messi and Neymar or that he piles it on against weak La Liga teams. Ignoring whether or not those things are true, to rack up those numbers is still mind-boggling.

There was a pretty strong argument to be made that no player in the world was as good as Suarez was last season. Even when his world class teammates struggled, Suarez was sublime and almost single-handedly ensured Barcelona would hold onto the La Liga crown late in the season. And still, even knowing that, those numbers still leave you in awe.

Barcelona knew they were getting an incredible player when they signed Suarez two years ago, but even they didn't expect this.
