The transfer of Kevin Grosskreutz to Galatasaray still open
DORTMUND, Germany (AP) Borussia Dortmund says the planned transfer of midfielder Kevin Grosskreutz to the Turkish club Galatasaray is ''still open,'' apparently because of late paperwork.
The case resembles the failed transfer of Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea to Real Madrid, which fell through because the paperwork was not submitted on time.
In the case of Grosskreutz, media reports say the paperwork from Galatasaray was late in reaching the Turkish football federation by Monday's deadline.
Dortmund said Tuesday that it can prove that it had sent all the required documents to FIFA on time.
Grosskreutz traveled to Istanbul on Monday to complete the deal. A member of Germany's World Cup winning squad, Grosskreutz has been dropped by new Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel.
Dortmund and Galatasaray now expect a FIFA ruling.
