ter Stegen Fit to Face Celtic
Barcelona play Celtic in their first UEFA Champions League match and Marc Andre ter Stegen will be available to play.
Luis Enrique will have to make a decision on who will start in goal for Barcelona when they face the Scottish Champions Celtic in their Champions League opener. There will be a choice now because Marc Andre ter Stegen is in the squad to face Brendan Rogers’ side. Jasper Cillessen, one of Barca’s newest players, took ter Stegens place in the shocking home loss to Alavés in La Liga action this past weekend.
Even though he couldn’t play this weekend, ter Stegen was able to participate in training on Sunday and Monday so that he could be ready for the match. “Ter Stegen trained fully,” Luis Enrique said at a news conference on Monday. “We will see [on Tuesday] who is in the squad but he did the whole session, which is positive.”
Enrique also had a lot of praise for Cillessen, the former Ajax goalkeeper, even if a few got past him on the weekend. “[Cillessen] is doing well — that is why we signed him,” he added. “He didn’t have much luck in the goals because they were two good moves by Alaves. He is doing well in what we look for from a Barca goalkeeper.”
More from Everything Barca
Including possibly ter Stegen, there could be many more changes to the Barca starting 11 this evening. The MSN attacking trio could all start together for the first time this season. Lionel Messi has a nagging groin injury but should still feature against Celtic. Luis Suárez came back from playing with Uruguay later than expected. If they all feature, it’ll bring excitement to all of the Barca fans watching at the Camp Nou this evening.

It will be interesting to see what Luis Enrique does with his starting 11 considering all of the players that need to be eased back into the lineup. He will need to include MSN, Pique, Roberto, and Andre Gomes as they’re all coming off of limited or no playing time this weekend. Barcelona need a strong response after their shocking loss this weekend. Only time will tell if the Catalans can show their strong resolve.
