Stevens keen on Feyenoord post

The Rotterdammers are seeking a new coach after Mario Been quit on Wednesday following a squad revolt. The vastly-experienced Stevens, who has held the top job at Schalke, Hamburg and PSV Eindhoven among others, would relish the chance to turn Feyenoord back into title challengers. "Feyenoord is a great club which is a great challenge for a coach," he told ad.nl. "Anyone who knows me will realise that this is a club which appeals to me." The 57-year-old has been out of work since resigning from Salzburg in April and sees parallels between Feyenoord and Schalke, with whom he won the 1997 UEFA Cup. "It's similar to Schalke, a club with good, passionate people. "Feyenoord is a club for ordinary people who have a good heart." Under Been last season, Feyenoord made an awful start before recovering to finish 10th.
