Steele: De Gea has work to do

At just 20 years of age, and carrying an £18.3million price-tag, De Gea will need to find his feet quickly if he is to make the grade at Old Trafford. Being asked to fill the boots of Edwin van der Sar will be no mean feat, especially when still acclimatising to a foreign country. De Gea is learning English, but for now his communication skills remain limited. United insist that will not be a problem, with there plenty of time for him to break down the language barrier, while the reigning Premier League champions are also confident that the youngster will prove to be a shrewd investment in the long run. Steele said: "Did you see Edwin when he was 20? There is work to be done, but no player is completely finished at 20. Edwin didn't come to England until he was 34. "David is still getting to know players and the language, but he can fit into the team because he's got this calmness. "He's very calm and mature on the ball for his age, which we've been used to with Edwin, but if we're going to play the Manchester United way, we need a keeper who can do that. "David has a tough act to follow, but we always knew that and that's why we took our time."
