Spanish league sells 2015-16 season TV rights for $670 million
MADRID -- The Spanish league says it has sold domestic broadcasting rights for the 2015-16 season to telecommunications company Telefonica for 600 million euros ($670 million).
A joint statement by both parties Friday says the agreement covers rights broadcast TV and audio coverage of La Liga, second division and Copa del Rey matches.
Spain's players union, AFE, called a strike in May over how TV revenues were collected and shared in Spanish soccer, but the country's National Court ruled the stoppage unlawful, allowing the season to end with Barcelona crowned league champion.
