Slick Bantams sink Shrimps

Bradford maintained their 100% home record with a 3-1 victory over Morecambe at Valley Parade on Tuesday evening.

It was City's fourth victory in a row at home and a result that ended the Shrimps' unbeaten record on the road.

Leading scorer James Hanson put Bradford in front a minute before half-time in the League Two clash when Kyel Reid's left-wing cross eluded the Morecambe defence and he turned smartly just inside the penalty area to beat goalkeeper Barry Roche with a low shot.

The goal crowned a strong spell of pressure during which Roche twice denied striker Alan Connell before keeping out an effort from winger Zavon Hines.

Morecambe rallied early in the second half and only a goal-line clearance from skipper Gary Jones prevented Richard Brodie from equalising in the 60th minute.

Reid increased Bradford's lead in the 81st minute when he controlled a cross-field pass from Nathan Doyle before beating Roche with a superb right-foot shot into the far corner.

The visitors pulled a goal back a minute later with low, left-foot shot from Andy Parrish but Jones put the result beyond doubt with Bradford's third goal - a 20-yard free-kick after Morecambe substitute Jack Redshaw was booked for pulling down Reid.
