Sky Blues chief defends decision

The Sky Blues parted company with manager Andy Thorn over the weekend after the club started life in League One with three successive draws.

Writing on the club's official website, Mr Fisher said: "Success only comes from consistent high-level performances coupled with a winning mentality - the desire to win. We cannot escape the fact that the results have not been acceptable.

"All staff were fully informed over the summer that the aim this season was to reverse the trend of failure and have a strong start. The situation required change to ensure that we do not have an embedded trend of not winning."

Thorn was in permanent charge of the cash-strapped club for 16 months, in which time Coventry were relegated from the Championship.
