Sergio Aguero blasted by Atletico Madrid president for leaving 'through the back door'

It's safe to say we can probably strike Atletico Madrid off the list of possible destinations for Sergio Aguero in the summer. The Argentine striker's future is now in doubt at Manchester City now that Gabriel Jesus has come to Pep Guardiola's rescue. Guardiola's said Aguero has a future with the Citizens, but if the striker leaves at the end of the season, it probably won't be to return to his old club Atletico following club president Enrique Cerezo's comments.

Cerezo roasted Aguero in an interview with El Partidazo de COPE, firing up the striker for being "the only player who left Atleti under a cloud, as he was stupid."

Cerezo didn't hold back in his assessment of Aguero, saying he "arrived as a hero, and he left through the back door."

Aguero joined Atletico for €23 million from Independiente in 2006 at just 18 years old, netting 102 goals in 233 games for the Colchoneros before making a €45m move to City in the summer of 2011.  He left under acrimony though, allegedly having pushed for a move to bitter rivals Real before his departure, and he eventually signed for City for €15 million less than Atletico's original asking price of €60 million.

In recent years, Atletico have welcomed back players like Fernando Torres, Filipe Luis, and even their captain Gabi after spells at other clubs. They have a history of letting players go and return with a hero's welcome. Don't expect Aguero to join that list any time soon though.
