Senegal's late strike edges Cameroon 1-0

Demba Ba scored in injury time to give Senegal a 1-0 win over Cameroon in African Cup of Nations qualifying on Saturday.

Ba's late winner puts Senegal in charge of Group E with maximum points from three games and leaves Cameroon's hopes in the balance. Only the top team in each group qualifies automatically for the 2012 African championship in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Senegal held Cameroon and striker Samuel Eto'o at bay with a solid defensive display in front of 50,000 people in Dakar, and then stole victory with Ba's strike a minute into injury time.

Cameroon was five points behind Senegal with three games to play in its qualifying campaign.

''We've played a good match,'' Eto'o said, ''but this is football. We still have nine points to take during the second round (of qualifiers).''
