Seferovic goal gives Benfica 1-0 win over Porto
LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Swiss striker Haris Seferovic scored in the second half to give Benfica a 1-0 win over FC Porto on Sunday.
Seferovic struck a headed pass from Luis "Pizzi" Fernandes past goalkeeper Iker Casillas in the 62nd minute.
Host Benfica held on in the final minutes after defender Cristian Lema was sent off with a second yellow card in the 83rd.
Benfica coach Rui Vitoria said it was a "hard win, but entirely deserved."
"We are in front, where we want to be," Vitoria said. "I have to congratulate my players."
The win lifted Benfica two points ahead of defending champion Porto. Benfica is level on points with Braga atop the Portuguese league after seven rounds.
