Scharner: Keep moving on up

The Baggies claimed a hard-fought 2-1 triumph at Ewood to end a three-match winless streak and remain 13th in the standings, five points clear of the drop zone. Austria international Scharner, who made a number of crucial blocks to help Roy Hodgson's men secure victory, believes they should stop worrying about what is happening below them. He told Albion's official website: "I think we should stop thinking about relegation - and that is my only wish for Christmas. "I think that everybody at the club and, especially the team, should be looking in front and not over our shoulders. "We have a quality squad and a strong team and we are better than just fighting against relegation. "I have my focus further up the table and we have had a few opportunities in the past few games to be higher in the league. "We didn't take those opportunities and it's important now, over Christmas, that we pick up those points." Scharner made his first start in seven games at Rovers and the midfielder was delighted to return to Hodgson's first team. "It was great to get back into the team," he added. "I had to wait for a few games but I am happy that I was back in the starting XI. "It was really important to get back into the team with a win because as a player I'm not the youngest anymore and I want to play as many games as possible. "Of course I would rather spend time on the field than on the bench and that's why I'm so happy to be recalled."
