Santos says it has fired coach Muricy Ramalho
After a disappointing run of results, Santos says it has fired coach Muricy Ramalho.
The announcement also comes just days after Santos reached an agreement to sell Neymar to Barcelona.
Ramalho, who has won four Brazilian league titles in his career, had been coaching Santos since April 2011. He led the club to six titles, including three in the Sao Paulo state championship and one in the Copa Libertadores.
Santos said Friday that it decided to make the changes to put the team back on track after ''one of the most successful periods in the history of the club.''
In 150 matches, Ramalho coached Santos to 72 victories, 42 draws and 36 losses.
A replacement has not been announced yet.
