Santos held by Coritiba

Botafogo finished the weekend top of the Campeonato Brasileiro after Coritiba and Vitoria were both held to draws.

Alex rescued a point for Coritiba in a 2-2 draw at Santos, but it was not enough to take them above Botafogo, who had ascended to the summit by beating Nautico Recife 24 hours earlier.

Santos twice took the lead, through Neilton (20) and Cicero (64), but both times Alex stepped up to equalise, in the 41st minute and finally two minutes from time.

Vitoria could also have gone top with a win, but they played out a a goalless stalemate with Bahia.

Jaun struck in the dying seconds to give Internacional a 1-0 win over Flamengo which took them fourth.

Renan Oliveira scored twice as Goias came from behind to beat Portuguesa 2-1.

Bruno Moraes opened the scoring in the 40th minute but Renan Oliveira levelled on the stroke of half-time, then scored the winner in the 66th minute for Goias, who had Hugo sent off four minutes from the end.

Goals from Juninho (17), Andre (46) and Carlos Tenorio (82) gave Vasco da Gama a 3-1 win at nine-man Fluminense.

Carlinhos (56) scored for the hosts, who had Fred (25) and Digao (75) sent off.

Alexandre Pato's 26th-minute leveller gave Corinthians a 1-1 draw at Atletico Paranaense, who had opened the scoring in the fifth minute through Marcelo.
