Salvador Cabanas sued for $500,000

Former Paraguay footballer Salvador Cabanas is being sued for $500,000 by a woman who claims she was injured when she was struck by a vehicle driven by the player's niece.

A lawyer for the plaintiff on Monday said the woman was stuck in Mexico City when she was riding a bicycle. Lawyer Francisco Curreno did not identify his client.

Cabanas was playing with Mexican club America at the time. Cabanas survived being shot in the head at point-black range 10 months ago in a bar in Mexico City. He has not played since and is not expected to return to football.
