Saint-Etienne remains in 6th spot after drawing 1-1 at Nimes

NIMES, France (AP) — Saint-Etienne missed the chance to move up to fifth place in the French league after drawing 1-1 at Nimes on Friday.

The visitors got off to the ideal start when winger Remy Cabella darted to the edge of the penalty area and headed in a cross from the right after just one minute.

Nimes showed why it is hard to beat at home and improved in the second half, equalizing through Rachid Alioui in the 74th. The striker scored 17 league goals last season to help Nimes get promoted, but this was his first of the season.

Saint-Etienne remains sixth ahead of this weekend's matches, while Nimes is 13th after nine games without a win. Nimes won its first two matches.

Runaway leader Paris Saint-Germain looks for an 11th straight league win when it travels to play bitter rival Marseille on Sunday.
