Ryan Giggs reportedly the favorite to take over as Swansea boss

Things aren't going so well at Swansea. The team won just one of its first six matches across all competitions and there's reported unrest in the dressing room as the players and manager Francesco Guidolin struggle to get along. With reports of Guidolin's dismissal or resignation swirling, naturally, there are also reports of who might replace him and one name stands out: Ryan Giggs.

The Manchester United legend is the Swans' top choice to take over for Guidolin, if the Italian is departs, according to ESPNFC.

The chances of Swansea turning things around in the immediate future look bleak, with matches against Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal all coming up. The first two of those come before the international break, too, so if Swansea did decide to make a change and wanted to give their new manager to have time to settle in, they could do so after the Liverpool contest. Then, the break would be the new boss' time to get things turned around.

This isn't the first time that Swansea have been linked to Giggs. They were reportedly interested in hiring him last season after they fired Garry Monk, but Giggs chose to remain with Manchester United as the No. 2 to Louis van Gaal. Now he's out of work, having left the club after Jose Mourinho took over and installed Rui Faria as his top assistant.

Giggs would be a popular hire at Swansea. He's obviously a big name, having been one of the best players in the history of the Premier League and his time as an assistant to David Moyes and van Gaal -- also a short stint as caretaker manager after Moyes was sacked -- gives him some decent coaching experience. He's also Welsh, making him even more enticing to Swansea.

It's only a matter of time before Giggs gets back into coaching. He went straight from playing to coaching and has been very clear about his ambitions. He originally wanted to be Manchester United manager and some thought he would succeed van Gaal. That's out the window, at least for now, but between the respect he garnered as a player and his work as a Red Devils coach, he may not have to go to the lower leagues for his first managerial job. He could start in the Premier League, and now, it looks like it could be with Swansea.
