Roche out for revenge

Former giants Deportivo La Coruna are the latest Spanish club to file for bankruptcy protection.

The Galicians, who are struggling in 19th place in La Liga, are 99m euros in debt and have sought protection from their creditors.

President Augusto Lendoiro said: "This makes me sad and ashamed, but there was no other option. 85% and 90% of the debt is with the government and banks.

"This is a different stage, but I see myself with the strength to continue," Lendoiro added. "The club is viable. I would give high marks to my management of these 25 years at Deportivo. I expect to stay here day to day."

The club have entered 'Ley Concursal protection' - a decision which all bar nine current top flight sides (Barcelona, Real Madrid, Athletic Bilbao, Osasuna, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Getafe, Sevilla and Espanyol) have taken at some stage.

MacDonald was released from his contract at the Milton Keynes club by mutual consent to set up the move to Orient.

The 31-year-old spent 18 months at stadium:mk having joined from Brentford in August 2011 and scored 11 goals in 45 appearances for the Dons.

He has netted twice this season for the Dons in 24 appearances, the majority of which have come as a substitute.

Rotherham-born Willis has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal, with the option of a further year.

The 17-year-old, who has represented England in the Victory Shield, provided cover for George Long for much of October and November, prior to the arrival of Danny Coyne.

"George is a great prospect and now that the contract business is done and dusted he can fully concentrate on progressing further," Blades boss Danny Wilson told the club's official website.

"Darren Ward, our goalkeeping coach, speaks very highly of him and young George only has to look at George Long for inspiration of what can happen if you work hard at your game."

On committing his future to United, Willis said: "I have been with the club for a number of years, so I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to sign professional terms.

"It was a fantastic experience to be involved with the first-team earlier in the season. The demands were far greater than what I've been used to but it was a challenge I relished.

"For the rest of the season I just want to concentrate on working hard in training and doing well for the Under-21s, then hopefully next season I can really push on."

The Shrimps took a 2-0 lead against the Pilgrims at the Globe Arena in September through goals from Jack Redshaw and Richard Brodie, but a nightmare final 20 minutes saw them collapse to a 3-2 loss.

"We completely threw it away at the Globe Arena," Roche said. "We were 2-0 up, really comfortable with 20 minutes to go and to lose three goals was criminal."

But the 32-year-old feels the result will have no great bearing on events at Home Park, where John Sheridan will take charge of his first game as Argyle manager.

"It will be a really good game down there," Roche said. "They've not been doing well but they've got a manager in John Sheridan who has a proven track record at this level, and above.

"So they're obviously going to be going all out to impress their manager but we've got to make sure his first game doesn't end happily for him."
