Report: No Manchester United move for Tottenham's Kane

Manchester United have not made an approach to Tottenham for striker Harry Kane, according to Sky sources.

The Sun have reported that United have "made contact" with Spurs with a view to negotiating a deal for the England forward but Sky Sports have suggested that is not the case.

Sky Sports reported last month that Kane was on United's list of targets but was adamant no negotiations had taken place for the 21-year-old Chiswick-born forward, who has repeatedly stated his desire to stay at White Hart Lane.

Wayne Rooney, who turns 30 later this year, is believed to be pushing United towards a move for his England team-mate, who has impressed him since his arrival on the international scene.

United boss Louis van Gaal is certainly in the market for a new striker after Radamel Falcao joined Chelsea on a season-long loan following a disappointing campaign at Old Trafford.

Fellow Dutchman Robin van Persie's future at the club looks to be in serious doubt with reports of a move to Turkish club Fenerbahce in the offing, while Javier Hernandez faces a spell on the sidelines after breaking his collarbone in a friendly match between Mexico and Honduras.
