Reds are studying Babel bid - Agent
Ryan Babel's agent claims Liverpool are considering a bid for the
Dutch winger from Birmingham, although reports claim it has been
rejected.
The Reds are believed to be ready to offload the 23-year-old
as Rafa Benitez looks to raise funds for his own signings in this
month's transfer window.
Babel's representative, Winnie Haatrecht, insists the
Netherlands international would consider a move to St Andrew's if
both clubs agree a fee for his services.
"We know that Liverpool seriously thinks about the offer from
Birmingham. We would consider a deal if both clubs come to an
agreement," Haatrecht told De Telegraaf.
Haatrecht admits Babel would prefer to fight for his place at
Liverpool but will move on if he is told to.
"In general, Ryan wats to succeed at Liverpool," added
Haatrecht. "But if the people at Anfield conclude it's better he
leaves, we have to think about the next chapter in his career.
"We will look then to the team, the perspectives of the club
and Ryan, as well as a meeting with the manager."
Haatrecht claims a number of clubs are interested in signing
Babel, but that they are struggling to agree a deal with Liverpool.
"I have sent all interested clubs to Liverpool, finally five
or six clubs contacted the club," he stated.
"None of them came to an agreement with Liverpool."
The Daily Mirror reported on Wednesday that the Reds had
turned down a £9million offer from Birmingham for Babel, who
cost £11.5million when he joined from Ajax in July 2007.
