Real Madrid's Illarramendi completes return to Real Sociedad
Asier Illarramendi has completed his return to Real Sociedad, just two years after leaving the club for Real Madrid.
The 25-year-old has signed a six-year deal with David Moyes' side after passing a medical on Wednesday and will be officially unveiled at 19:00 CET.
A statement on La Real's website read: "Real Sociedad and Real Madrid have reached an agreement for the transfer of Asier Illarramendi to our club.
"The Mutriku player has passed his medical review in Gipuzkoa Polyclinic and then formalised its agreement in the office of Anoeta. He has signed for six seasons."
Illarramendi moved to Madrid in a 32 million euros deal in July 2013 but was used sparingly during Carlo Ancelotti's two years in charge at the Bernabeu.
The midfielder has also failed to win over new Madrid boss Rafa Benitez, who has sanctioned his exit despite seeing Sami Khedira also depart this summer.
The club issued a brief statement of their own thanking him for his efforts: "Real Madrid CF and Real Sociedad have agreed the transfer of the player Asier Illarramendi.
"The club wants to show its appreciation for the years of dedication and professionalism of Illarramendi, and wishes him good luck in his new career."
