Real Madrid scapegoat Cheryshev is now Copa del Rey eligible

Well, isn't this ironic.

On Monday, Cheryshev completed a loan move and will spend the rest of the season with Valencia. The 25-year-old can now face Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semifinals later this week after a disciplinary committee ruled that his apperance against Cadiz back in December counted towards his suspension.

"It is a very important opportunity for me and I hope to live up to this challenge," Cheryshev was quoted as saying on Marca. "Football is about the present and it's true that the team is going through a difficult time. I believe that with hard work Valencia will come out of its complicated situation."

Valencia could surely use all the help they can get as they've yet to win a La Liga match under Gary Neville's stewardship. Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Sporting Gijon snapped a 22-game, 14-month unbeaten home record.

Let's just hope Cheryshev's signing will not turn Los Che's luck from bad to worse.
