Rangers, Celtic bounce back in SPL

Rangers and Celtic earned 2-0 victories Sunday in the Scottish Premier League as the Glasgow rivals bounced back from European elimination.

Steven Davis and Steven Naismith secured leader Rangers' win over Aberdeen.

Davis put the defending champions ahead with a 15th-minute lofted effort that fell beyond the grasp of goalkeeper David Gonzalez.

And after Davis' free kick was fumbled by Gonzalez in stoppage time, Naismith scored from close range.

Gary Hooper scored both Celtic goals against St. Mirren, firing past goalkeeper Craig Samson from close range after six minutes and capitalizing on Paul McGowan's mistake to score again six minutes later.

In Thursday's Europa League playoffs, Celtic was ousted by Sion and Maribor eliminated Rangers.
