QPR signs Andrew Johnson, Ryan Nelsen

Premier League club Queens Park Rangers has bolstered its squad with the signing of forward Andrew Johnson and defender Ryan Nelsen.

Johnson, 31, was released by Fulham, where he spent the past four seasons scoring 13 goals in 86 appearances. The striker, who has also played for Birmingham, Crystal Palace and Everton in a career spanning 15 years, signed a two-year contract.

New Zealand international Ryan Nelsen, who spent the second half of last season with Tottenham after he was released by Blackburn in January, signed a one-year contract. He made 172 appearances in seven years at Blackburn.

QPR narrowly avoided relegation last season, finishing in 17th place.

Nelsen says ''there is a real buzz about the place and it is a privilege to be here.''
