Polish official fired over corruption allegations

The Polish football federation has fired its secretary general following allegations of possible corruption.

Federation official Jacek Masiota said Wednesday that the 17-member board voted to oust Zdzislaw Krecina after a secretly filmed video captured him talking about money with association president Grzegorz Lato in 2010.

The members believe the recordings indicate a criminal offense may have taken place. There was no vote on Lato on Wednesday.

Krecina and Lato deny any wrongdoing.

The sports ministry has asked prosecutors to investigate.

Poland will co-host the 2012 European Championship with Ukraine.
