Pogba to sign lucrative Adidas deal

Italian newspaper La Gazetta dello Sport has reported that Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has signed a new long-term sponsorship and supply deal with German sportswear company Adidas.

La Gazetta claims the 22-year-old Frenchman has agreed a ten-year contract, which is set to earn him €40 million (US$44.2 million) over the duration of the deal.

Until the proposed Adidas deal, Pogba was a rare example of a modern, top-level soccer player without a promotional boot deal. The player's agent Mino Raiola is believed to have used Pogba’s long-term independence to spark a bidding war between Nike and Adidas.

Pogba is likely to star this summer, as the French national team head into Euro 2016 as hosts and one of the favourites to lift the trophy.
