Plane flies #FireKlinsmann banner over USA-Guatemala

It's no secret that American soccer fans -- and former players -- are a little displeased with the current man at the helm.

From a forgettable Gold Cup run last summer all the way to Friday's 2-0 defeat to Guatemala in World Cup qualifying, the U.S. men's national team find themselves in uncharted territory and in danger of missing out on the 2018 World Cup.

So, to make their voices heard loud and clear, it was seemingly fitting to see a #FireKlinsmann banner fly over MAPFRE Stadium before their tilt against Guatemala kicked off.

Seriously? "#FireKlinsmann He's a tiny little bit behind" is the best you could come up with? Maybe a short and sweet message along the lines of, "#FireKlinsmann" or "#KlinsmannOut" would have sufficed.

Anyhow, the line references the German's popular quote regarding the controversial omission of Landon Donovan before the last World Cup, where he was quoted as saying some players "were a tiny little bit ahead of him."

Fans were quick to the trigger online as well, swiftly starting up a fundraising page to bankroll the banner (unsuccessfully) after the U.S. lost the first leg against Guatemala.

We can only wonder what Donovan has to think about all of this.
