Pieters undergoes arm surgery
PSV Eindhoven and Netherlands defender Erik Pieters has undergone surgery on his arm, which he sliced open punching a window after being sent off in his team's 3-1 home defeat by PEC Zwolle.
PSV said Saturday Pieters had suffered ''damage to several structures in his underarm'' in his furious reaction to a second-half red card Friday night. The club did not elaborate on the injury.
The club said in a tweet that PSV medical staff will assess ''in the coming weeks'' how long Pieters will take to recover.
The defender's latest injury came on his return to action after nine months on the sidelines because of a foot injury.
Photos showed the door he punched splattered with bright red blood around a large hole in the glass.
