Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang beats out Yaya Toure for African Player of the Year

Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been named the Confederation of African Football (CAF)'s Player of the Year.

The 26-year-old Gabonese striker has had a stellar year in the Bundesliga, scoring 27 goals in 27 appearances for Dortmund in all competitions this season.

Aubameyang (143 points) edged out Manchester City midfielder Yaya Touré (136 points) to win the award for the first time. Touré took home the honor in each of the past four years. Ghana and Swansea City foraward Andre Ayew earned third place with 112 points.

Aubameyang was quickly congratulated by his club.

His teammates, on the other hand, will make sure the honor does not go to his head.
