Pay up Pompey, pleads Hreidarsson
The club's financial position should be more stable after the sales of Younes Kaboul to Tottenham over the weekend and Asmir Begovic to Stoke on deadline day. However, the players and staff still did not receive their wages as scheduled on Monday and Hreidarsson is concerned that the situation does not seem to be improving. The defender believes the owners must be held accountable and has urged them to be honest with the players about what can be expected in future. "They should come clean and let us know exactly what is going on," Hreidarsson said in the Daily Express. "This is the fourth time it has happened this season. It seems to be a never-ending story at the moment. "The players and staff are working hard for this club, but we don't know what is happening from the people who are running it. "It is just amazing that we have not been paid and they have not been in touch with us. "I am sure the players will be all right, but it is the staff not being paid that is a big concern. They maybe have mortgages to pay, but do not have their wages." The transfer business involving Kaboul and Begovic should ensure the players are paid on Tuesday and Hreidarsson remains hopeful. He said: "I suppose it is frustration on our part more than anything else. All we can do is wait and hope that the money will eventually be paid to us. "Let us hope that it is sooner rather than later."
