Palace confirm the club are in talks to sign PSG midfielder Cabaye

Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish has confirmed the club are in talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Yohan Cabaye.

Former Newcastle man Cabaye is set to move on from the Ligue 1 giants after an unspectacular spell since his £19million switch in January 2014 and Palace and Arsenal, along with Roma have been linked with him.

Now Palace chief Parish has firmed up the interest in the 29-year-old, but admitted the deal will be a tough one to complete with plenty of competition for Cabaye.

"That's definitely one we would like to do," Parish told TalkSport. "If we can, it will be massive for the club. He's a seasoned international. That's definitely one we're working on.

"Getting the top players is difficult, it's a difficult transfer market right now,

"It's a bit blocked up, no one really wants to go first, no one wants to set the valuation. We've finished 10th and 12th, we've done well but we want to do better than that.

"For us to get into the top 10 in the Premier League, we've got to be bringing in people that are top 10 Premier League players. It's not easy, because everyone wants those players."

Cabaye managed 17 goals in 79 Premier League appearances for Newcastle in a three-year spell under Alan Pardew from 2011 to 2014 and last month admitted he would be open to linking up with Pardew once more.
