Pair of Spanish soccer players apologize after sex tape leaks online

SD Eibar players Sergi Enrich and Antonio Luna have written a lengthy apology after a sex tape featuring the two of them and a woman leaked online and went viral on Wednesday.

Enrich published the statement to his Twitter account apologizing to SD Eibar, its fans, and the other person involved for any damage that may have been done to all parties, stressing that the "private act" was uploaded without their consent.

Translated into English, the statement reads:

“In light of the circulation on social media of a sexually explicit video in which we, the undersigned, appear, we want to state that the video shows a recording of a private act which took place between fully consenting adults, within the scope of the freedoms we all enjoy.”

“We deeply regret that an indiscretion for which we are not responsible has led to these images being published without our knowledge or, far less, our consent.”

“We likewise regret the potential damage [not only] to our image but in particular to that of our club, whose colors we represent, and that it could have offended our supporters and the city of Eibar in general.”

“We are aware that professional footballers should set an example in every walk of life, especially to children; this being the reason we apologize if this incident has caused harm to anyone.”

“Equally, we want to apologize for the damage the circulation of this video could cause to the third person involved in the video.”

The 26-year-old Enrich was Eibar’s second-leading scorer last season with 9 goals, while the 25-year-old left back Luna previously played for Sevilla and Aston Villa, scoring one goal in 17 Premier League games. Enrich has featured in all Eibar's games this season, while Luna has started five of seven.

Eibar, currently 8th in La Liga in their third season in the top flight, have not released a statement in response to the video or its players’ apology. Enrich and Luna were not on the roster for Thursday's scheduled friendly against CD Leganes.
