Ousmane Dembele signed for Dortmund because Bayern contacted the wrong agent

Borussia Dortmund's Ousmane Dembele -- one of the many Dembeles shining across Europe -- could've been a Bayern Munich player if it wasn't for a rudimentary mistake by Bayern Munich's technical director: he approached the wrong agent.

Dembele broke out in a big way last year for Rennes in Ligue 1, scoring 12 goals and laying on five assists in 26 appearances. Dortmund pounced quickly over the summer, signing him for €15 million on a five-year contract.

According to SportBild, via Goal, both Dortmund and Bayern reportedly began negotiations for the French wonderkid's signature around the end of 2015, but eventually it was Dortmund who won out because technical director Michael Reschke negotiated with the player's former agent Badou Sambague, rather than his current representative Marco Kirdemir.

It's early days, but that €15 mil already looks like an absolute bargain. Dembele's been harassing defenses around Europe in the 10 appearances he's made for Dortmund, chipping in with a goal, four assists, and innumerable "oh my GOD, did you see what that man just DID?!?!?!" entries on the (as yet unofficial) Sauce Stat sheet.

With Kingsley Coman reportedly not convincing the Bayern Munich hierarchy and Dembele tearing it up for Dortmund, Bayern fans have to be a little upset at the news that they could've possibly been the ones fawning over young Ousmane's skills in red. Although, with the last four Bundesliga titles sitting in their trophy cabinet, they can afford to take a couple L's here and there.
